About Us

The Wellington Windsurfing Association (WWA) is a voluntary, non-profit organisation run by windsurfers, for windsurfers.

Our goals are:

To promote and encourage participation of our sport through instruction, competition, and social activities
To ensure Wellington has a safe and clean aquatic environment
To continue to develop and maintain the outstanding sailing areas in and around the Wellington region

Most importantly, the WWA is a very active political voice for windsurfers, dealing with maritime authorities and local government issues. Successful projects to date include the preservation of beach access, and no compulsory life jackets for windsurfers.Work continues on maintaining beach access & rigging areas (in particular Plimmerton) and the Lyall Bay surf reef.
