The Hutt City Windsurf Cup New Zealand is the first leg of the Pacific Windsurf Cup series.

The Pacific Windsurf Cup comprises 4 events staged in New Zealand, Hawaii, Tahiti and Noumea (unconfirmed), and is expected to attract a number of international sailors, especially as it has also been announced that the PWC will be a qualifying series for the PWA World Tour Windsurfing.

This event will include prize money, free food each day, free container storage on-site, a trade / market display area, significant media presence and coverage, event party Saturday night, showers/changing facilities, an event discount at the nearby Top10 Holiday Park, free gear (via container) transport from Auckland to Wellington - and more to come!

Auckland - Wellington container gear transport:

  • AKL-WEL - Depart AKL 21st March, Arrival WEL 22nd March
  • WEL-AKL - Depart WEL 27th March, Arrival AKL 28th March

This will be a racing event for both men and women and may include slalom, figure of 8, speed slalom and marathon (long distance formats).

Men and women may race separately, depending on entry numbers.

A “Silver” fleet option will be run if there are more than 5 entries. Entry to the Silver fleet is based on your racing experience (or lack of it), your equipment, or your age being such that you still like to compete but can not mix it at a Open Men’s or Women’s level.

A Weekend Warrior class has been introduced with a reduced entry fee to encourage locals - race Saturday/Sunday only in the Silver fleet. A separate result will be determined for this group. Silver entries who do not place in the Silver class will also qualify.

All age divisions shall race in men, women or silver fleets and or any other class that may be defined before racing starts on day one of the event

A maximum of 10 races per day will apply to all competitors and divisions. Other classes (e.g. Silver & Women) will race every 2nd round (i.e. 5 races Max per day). Unless otherwise agreed on the day.

Early bird registration NZ $100 closes 19 February, then normal registration NZ $150 until 5 March, and late registrations NZ $160 are allowed on the day.
