Borrow the WWA's Learner Windsurfer

The Wellington Windsurfing Association has a big learner board and a small kid rig which it lends to members of the Association for a $15 donation per time (7 days).

JP Funster

The board is a JP Funster 180 litres and comes with fins. It's great for adult sailors who want to practice new moves, people completely new to the sport, and also to introduce young family members to the world of windsurfing. It's really floaty and stable and makes learning lots of fun.

The kid’s rig comprises a 2.0m sail, mast and boom and works with the board. Adults will need to find a bigger rig to use with the WWA board.

Rules

We try to allow as many members as possible to have the opportunity to borrow the board over the year, so have put a few rules in place:

  • To make a booking you must be either a full Individual Member or Full Joint member. The board is not available for hire to non-members.
  • Bookings are available for Monday to Sunday basis each month and are available to a member one week only at a time.
  • Bookings may be made up to three months in advance.

  • It is the responsibility of the member borrowing the board to collect it from the person who has just used it.  (This is the default position - members may of course make other arrangements which better suit both parties.)
  • The Association reserves the right to withdraw a confirmed booking if the board is required for an event hosted by the Association (e.g. Intermediate clinic day) during the period of the booking.

Please Take care

We are happy to be able to help WWA members to develop their own skills or introduce family to this fantastic sport.  However this gear is expensive – and we ask that all members treat it with care.  Please ensure you pass all gear (sail, fins, boom, mast) to the next person, and report any loss or damage to the WWA immediately.
